Otousan: The Life of Masami Tsuruoka looks
back on the career of a pioneering Canadian.
After suffering the humiliation of internment
during World War II, Masami Tsuruoka
moved to Japan where he encountered the
emerging art of Karate-do. After ten years
of study he returned to Canada and opened
the country’s first karate school in 1957.
Mr. Tsuruoka went on to found the National
Karate Organization and is known as the
"father of Canadian karate."
