Aliya-Jasmine Sovani is a MTV personality, known for her work on the hit series 1 Girl 5 Gays, MTV News, MTV Impact, and most recently the sports and pop culture crossover series Play With AJ, which was conceptualized based on her lifelong passion for sports and entertainment. Aliya-Jasmine holds a degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Ottawa, and recently completed her Digital Marketing & Social Media certification at Harvard University, in Boston.


In this inspiring film, nine unforgettable girls from around the world confront tremendous challenges and overcome nearly impossible odds to reach their dreams. Narrated by renowned actors, including Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Kerry Washington, the stories in Girl Rising demonstrate the remarkable strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world.
