Wagner’s first masterpiece, Der fliegende Holländer (The Flying Dutchman) shares the story of the intense and dangerous attraction between the Dutchman—a man doomed to sail the seas for eternity—and Senta, the woman whose faithful love could redeem him.
In German, with English subtitles. Performed live at the Royal Opera House on February 25, 2015. There will be one 10-minute intermission.
Soprano Adrianne Pieczonka, one of the stars of Der fliegende Holländer, will introduce the screening.
