Description

Meet Big and Little Edie Beale: mother and daughter, high-society dropouts, and reclusive relatives of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. The two manage to thrive together amid the decay and disorder of their East Hampton, New York, mansion, making for an eerily ramshackle echo of the American Camelot. An impossibly intimate portrait, this 1975 documentary by Albert and David Maysles, co-directed by Ellen Hovde and Muffie Meyer, quickly became a cult classic and established Little Edie as a fashion icon and philosopher queen. Don’t miss the Toronto premiere of the new 2K digital restoration of this Maysles' classic, undertaken in collaboration with the Academy Film Archive at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Fans of the Maysles brothers works won’t want to miss this gem. See it alongside our full line-up of Maysles films this May and one of Albert Maysles' final films, Iris.
