Description

A Celebration of Pan American Culture Through Film: Inspiring documentaries that bring the diverse stories, vibrant cultures and remarkable contributions of Pan American peoples to the screen.

Based on Pulitzer Prize-winner Samantha Power’s groundbreaking biography, Chasing the Flame: Sergio Vieira de Mello and the Fight to Save the World, Sergio is a riveting account of the amazing career and tragic final mission of the United Nations’ High Commissioner for Human Rights, Brazilian diplomat Sergio Vieira de Mello. Known to everyone simply as Sergio, he was lauded for his ability to diffuse some of the most complicated situations in countries with some of the worst human rights abuses. With his charming personality and his calm, pragmatic style, some likened him to a cross between James Bond and Bobby Kennedy. At 55, Sergio was in love and ready to settle down. But a crisis called him away one final time, and because of who he was, he had to answer. Sergio is an exceptional tribute to a rare man who valued humanitarianism above all else.
