A Celebration of Pan American Culture Through Film: Inspiring documentaries that bring the diverse stories, vibrant cultures and remarkable contributions of Pan American peoples to the screen.
Sebastián Marroquín was 16 when his father, the ruthless Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, was killed. Forced to relocate to Argentina under a new identity, Marroquín has struggled to reconcile the complex and conflicting images he carries of Escobar—devoted father, modern-day Robin Hood and murderer. Now, 16 years later, Sins of My Father follows Marroquín as he sets forth on an epic journey back to his homeland, where he will apologize to the sons of two of his father’s murder victims. His journey is both a genuine attempt to reconcile and a symbolic gesture to inspire a new generation. This riveting documentary combines a moving contemporary drama with extraordinary archives, resulting in a human and complex narrative.
In Spanish, with English subtitles.
