Description

In October, 10 filmmakers were shortlisted in the Documentary Short Subject category for the 2016 Academy Awards®, including local filmmaker Adam Benzine for his fascinating feature debut Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah. The film, which premiered to rave reviews at Hot Docs 2015 and was supported with a grant from the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds, chronicles the making of master filmmaker Claude Lanzmann's seminal nearly 10-hour documentary Shoah, the most important film ever made about the Holocaust and arguably one of best documentaries of all time. We invite Bloor Hot Docs Cinema members to join us for a special screening of Benzine's harrowing portrait of an artist and a behind-the-scenes study of the making of a masterpiece.

In English and French, with English subtitles.

Director Adam Benzine will join us following the screening for an intimate and in-depth conversation.

Tickets: Members may reserve free tickets (one per Bronze member, two per Silver member and three per Gold member) online or at the Bloor box office. All members may purchase one additional $8 ticket to bring a friend.

On December 17, join us for a special companion screening of Claude Lanzmann’s rarely-seen masterpiece The Last of the Unjust. Members receive special pricing.
