Chances are that you have seen images of Todd Saunders’s sculpture-like artist studios, perched on the rugged and rocky shores of Fogo Island, a remote outcrop off the coast of Newfoundland. Since the first photographs were released, the buildings have been praised in more than 80 international publications ranging from The New York Times Magazine to Wallpaper. With the traditional cod industry gone, Fogo Island had to find new ways to generate its economy; trying to retain what is special about the island's way of life while simultaneously redefining its place in the world. Discover more about the ambitious project and the brilliant minds behind it in this gorgeously photographed film.
Director and producer Katherine Knight and producer David Craig will be in attendance for a Q&A following the screening.
Co-presented by the Toronto Design Offsite Festival.
