Music on Film: Inspiring music docs of all genres paired with special guest speakers selected by The Royal Conservatory of Music.

Legendary pianist Glenn Gould had all the marks of genius: blinding talent, a craving for perfection and absolute bullheadedness. Famous around the world and perhaps even in deep space—one of his performances was included on NASA’s Voyager 1 as a representation of human civilization and intelligence—he was a complex and in many ways anarchic figure. Through 32 elegantly constructed vignettes, audiences can here glimpse the man himself from artist to financier, humourist to nature-lover, recluse to iconoclast. “There is no way of putting Gould in one box,” says director François Girard. “The film gives the viewer 32 impressions of him. I didn't want to reduce him to one dimension."

Includes a post-screening Q&A with Roxolana Roslak, head of the vocal division at The Glenn Gould School and collaborator on the Juno Award-winning Das Marienleben with Gould himself. Moderated by Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of The Royal Conservatory of Music's Performing Arts Division.
