This Film Should Be Played Loud: See new, classic and rare concert films on the big screen.
This rousing tribute to Canadian singer-songwriter Kate McGarrigle was recorded at New York City's Town Hall, featuring her famously musical family—children Rufus and Martha Wainwright, older sisters Anna and Jane—and equally gifted friends including Emmylou Harris and Norah Jones. Other performers include Teddy Thompson, who nails Kate's previously unrecorded Saratoga Summer Song; Krystle Warren, a revelation on the Anna McGarrigle-penned I Don't Know; and Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons) in harmony with Rufus on Cried for Us. Australian filmmaker Lian Lunson (Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man) interweaves concert footage with family memories in this immensely enjoyable and moving homage.
Arrive early as DJ Moe Berg (lead singer for The Pursuit of Happiness) spins some mood-setting tunes.
