Election 2016: A three-part doc series on what's at stake and who's at play this November.
"America, they're coming for you next." That’s the warning from a Wisconsin state employee after her union rights were destroyed by Governor Scott Walker, a man whose political career is majorly funded by the David and Charles Koch’s big-money advocacy group Americans for Prosperity. Set against the rise of the Tea Party in the aftermath of the US Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling (which vastly loosened restrictions on donations to political campaign), Republican working-class voters find themselves in the crosshairs of their own party and its billionaire backers and are forced to choose sides.
Includes a post-screening Q&A with Alison Smith, former CBC Washington Correspondent and instructor of our Curious Minds morning lecture series America Votes: Making Sense of the US Presidential Election.
