Digital strategy expert Avery Swartz joins a quartet of powerhouse podcasters to break down the practical skills you’ll need to produce, record and market the world’s next great podcast. Producers JP Davidson (The Globe and Mail’s Risk Takers), Dan Misener (Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids, Pacific Content), Katie Jensen (CANADALAND, The Imposter) and Hannah Sung (The Globe and Mail’s Colour Code) will share technical tips and creative strategies. Avery Swartz is a Toronto-based entrepreneur, web designer, and expert in digital strategy. She is the founder and CEO of Camp Tech, the national tech workshop company for non-technical people. When she’s not busy helping people get the web working for them or expanding Camp Tech across Canada, Avery hosts The Camp Tech Podcast, acts as a digital advisor to a number of charities (including the Art Canada Institute and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation), and co-hosts the Gather North retreat for women who make the web.
JP Davidson is an independent podcast producer for non-profits, independent clients, and brands including RBC Royal Bank, Citrix, and Greenpeace. He is also co-producer of The Globe and Mail's small business podcast, The Risk Takers, and Camp Tech’s Intro to Podcasting instructor. After studying radio documentary production at the Transom Story Workshop, he founded the Canadian Sound & Story Workshop, a community for independent podcast, radio and multimedia producers.
Dan Misener is Head of Audience Development and a story producer at Pacific Content, where he's developed programming for Slack, Shopify and Envoy. He also teaches audio production and podcasting at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto. In his spare time, he produces the award-winning podcast and live event series Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids.
Katie Jensen is a producer at CANADALAND, where she produces Jesse Brown's award-winning media criticism podcast. She is the co-creator of The Imposter, a brand new arts and culture podcast hosted by Aliya Pabani. In her spare time, she writes for Weird Canada, hosts a weekly show on 93.3 CFMU, and programs for Feast In The East, a Toronto-based monthly music, food and art installation series.
Hannah Sung is a video and podcast producer at The Globe and Mail. She is the co-host and co-producer of a new podcast called Colour Code, a podcast about race in Canada by The Globe and Mail. It debuted at #1 on iTunes Canada.
