John Walker grew up an Anglophone in Montreal in the years surrounding Quebec's Quiet Revolution. He witnessed first-hand the dramatic cultural and political changes that led to the separatist movement, the FLQ crisis and, ultimately, the exodus of more than 500,000 English-speaking Quebecers. Many of those Quebecers—including Walker—found their way to Toronto. In Hot Docs favourite Quebec My Country Mon Pays, he explores a very personal story through the lens of a cast of characters including three generations of his family, childhood confidantes and artistic contemporaries, including Denys Arcand, Jacques Godbout and Louise Pelletier. Together, an arresting and intimate view of the province to our east is crafted.
