Kirsten Johnson is the award-winning cinematographer behind some of the most important and recognizable documentaries of recent years, including Fahrenheit 9/11 and Citizenfour. She’s filmed war zones, streetscapes and sports spectacles with a unique, compassionate lens—and she reaches back into her vast trove of footage to reveal a vivid memoir told through astounding vignettes in this Hot Docs and Sundance favourite. Whether shooting undercover footage on the front lines of the War on Terror, or chasing down French philosopher Jacques Derrida on the streets of Manhattan, her cinematic encounters are endlessly engrossing and revelatory.
In English, Bosnian, Arabic, Dar, Hausa and Fur, with English subtitles.
Director Kirsten Johnson will be in attendance for a Q&A following the sneak preview screening on December 13 at 9 p.m.
