Description

This Film Should Be Played Loud: See new, classic and rare concert films on the big screen.

With an intense and intoxicating intimacy, music legend (and Bad Seed) Nick Cave allows the camera to capture his artistic process in creating his latest album The Skeleton Tree in the face of personal loss. This gut-wrenchingly honest documentary was originally conceived as a one-night-only screening to launch Cave’s album, but this unique concert doc is back thanks to tremendous popular demand. A longtime friend and collaborator of Cave's, director Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) weaves together live performance with spontaneous interviews and Cave’s own contemplative ruminations on aging, loss and creation.

Critical praise:

  • The Guardian - 4/5 stars, “It's an impressive spectacle, if not a happy one.”
  • The Hollywood Reporter - “Provides access to the creative process and deepening the album experience”
  • Time - “An examination of the way our personal experiences can spur creativity-or render it inconsequential.”
  • Variety - “If it is sometimes a rambling and indulgent experience, it's also a beautiful one.”
