Description

In the late Métis filmmaker’s celebrated documentary Foster Child, Gil Cardinal sets off on a search for his biological family and uncovers new details about his roots along the way. Raised without any knowledge of his indigenous heritage, Cardinal grew up feeling alienated and out of place, becoming withdrawn and cutting classes. Finally, in his 30s, he decides to find out why he was put in foster care—coming into contact with Métis culture for the first time. Foster Child is an unforgettable film about personal identity and finding where you belong.
