London’s renowned Royal Opera House presents the
remarkable production of Wagner’s epic masterpiece
Parsifal—a profound meditation on guilt, death and
possible redemption.
Wagner’s final opera, Parsifal was loosely based on a 13th
century poem about an Arthurian knight (Parzival) and his
quest for the Holy Grail. The result is a magnificent and
sensual score that is richly orchestrated. Directed by Stephen
Langridge, and conducted by Antonio Pappano, this new
staging of Parsifal features an extraordinary cast of
Wagnerian singers including heldentenor Simon O’Neill,
bass René Pape and Gerald Finley in his debut as Amfortas.
Performed at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden
on December 18, 2013.
In German, with English subtitles. There will be two
20-minute intermissions.
Tickets: $15, $12 (Bloor members)
