Description

Errol Morris Retrospective: In conjunction with The B-Side, we celebrate and screen the auteur's major works.

Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara reflects on a life intertwined with some of the 20th century’s largest conflicts in this Academy Award–winning doc, one of Errol Morris's finest achievements. In fact, the film is structured around 11 of those lessons, from "empathize with your enemy," to "you can’t change human nature." With Morris’s ingenious 'Interrotron,' McNamara is able to look into Morris’s eyes and the lens at the same time, locking the audience into a stare with the man largely responsible for Vietnam and firebombing Japan. The results are both insightful and chilling.
