Description

Art in September: Let Hot Docs be your refuge for art for art’s sake.

This unforgettable exhibition from The Royal Academy of Arts, London, features a marvelous collection of impressionists, post-impressionists, and avant-garde artists of the early twentieth century focusing on the rise of the modern garden in popular culture which continues to grow in the present day. Some of the greatest names of the day turned their attention to horticulture and the garden’s potential for utopian ideas, decorative design, colour, and expressive abstraction including Van Gogh, Bonnard, Sorolla, Sargent, Pissarro, Matisse and of course Claude Monet who himself was an avid gardener and the most important painter of gardens in art.
