Description

CANADIAN PREMIERE

A small and nearly deserted Bulgarian village has been gradually falling into decay ever since the fall of communism in Eastern Europe. The influx of refugees crossing the Bulgarian-Turkish border has caused further unrest within the community. A local postman Ivan, however, sees the refugee crisis as an opportunity to revitalize his village. As he runs for mayor, he campaigns to welcome refugees and goes door to door conveying his vision. In the meantime, his opponents advocate for reinforcing communism and closing the borders to the newcomers. While the small-town politics run its course and malaise begins to sink in, more refugees lose their lives as victims of human trafficking and other atrocities. Amidst Europe’s worst refugee crisis since the Second World War, The Good Postman asks if Ivan’s good intentions and heartfelt speeches are enough to make a difference.
