Description

At one week old, Jaha Dukureh was circumcised, a practice common in many countries today; at 15, when she became aware of the procedure, she began the start of her tireless dedication to end female genital mutilation (FGM) in the Gambia, where she was born, and now, worldwide. Jaha’s Promise is an inspiring film following Jaha – an incredible activist who, at 26, was recognized in 2016 as one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” – as she travels around the world acting as a powerful agent of change. Jaha is one of 200 million women currently living with the consequences of FGM, demonstrating that her story is not unique and demands to be told.

Directors Katie O'Callaghan and Patrick Farrelly will participate in a post-screening Q&A.
