Description

Documentary provocateur Vít Klusák (Czech Dream) offers up fresh controversy with the most lovably hateful protagonist of recent years, the thirty-something Nazi-loving mama's boy Dalibor. This darkly hilarious look at a Czech loser reveals just how permissible white nationalism, anti-Semitism and misogyny have become in working-class Europe. An industrial painter, Dalibor lives in his mother's apartment, where he plays video games, hates on Gypsies and wallows in his lack of romantic success. When his loony mother moves her new boyfriend in and the "family" sets off on an Auschwitz vacation, social critique goes off the rails and even the filmmaker must confront his subjects. The shock value of Dalibor's outbursts and the film's "documentary play" theatrics could almost dismiss the cretin as a one-off, but the film's unwavering determination to truly examine Dalibor's character forces the viewer to realize just how dangerous average people can be when they are forgotten and disconnected.
