What does it mean to collaborate on a film project when you're born on either side of colonial history? In 2018, while the people of Kinshasa feverishly wait for perpetually delayed presidential elections, two Congolese and two Belgian directors decide to record the creative resistance playing out in the city's streets. Focusing on artistic performances in public spaces, they paint a rarely seen picture of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where locals address social injustices and the legacy of colonialism in smart, resourceful and surprising ways. But can the filmmakers reconcile their different views on how to tell that story? For whom should the film be made? And how are you supposed to use a camera in a city that has a love/hate relationship with it?
