Description

Director Tülin Özdemir uncovers a story that has shrouded her family in secrets. At a very young age, her aunt was thrust into a life she didn't want or ask for when she was suddenly removed from her family home in Turkey and taken to Belgium to live with her older sister. There, her life took an even more traumatic turn when she discovered an arranged marriage had been planned for her at far too young an age. With no way out, she succumbed to her family's plans and soon after found herself pregnant. Years later, with an intimate and compassionate lens, Özdemir documents her aunt's story, helping her face her past, confront her family and walk the path to healing. Heather Haynes

Additional Information

  • POV - "A fantastic account of domestic ethnography, Red Moon tells the story of one woman but reflects stories of all women. That is its magic."
