Description

Eva, a 25-year-old Berliner, is determined to show the world that "you can pretend to be whatever you want to be." She models her message through selfies, sex scenes and social media comments that capture the contradictions and fluidity of being everything and nothing at once. She's an individual of infinite variety and multiple identities: cat owner, poet, bisexual, sex worker, recovering addict, feminist, anarchist, fashion model, Virgo…but is she a real person? For a young woman who has grown up online, reality is virtual and life is "kind of like an indie movie"—a subjective construction under your own direction. Searching Eva shares a mutable millennial's search for ID on IG, where self-discovery has gone public and selfhood is a spectacle that challenges expectations around gender, sexuality and shame. Through her fragmented personalities and disarming honesty, Eva demonstrates a new way of being—exposing by posing, self-defining by defying and pleasing no one but herself. Angie Driscoll
