Description

As the only hearing member of her household, fiercely protective Inga has been the family's de facto sign-language interpreter since she was seven years old. Now entering her teenage years, Inga is craving an identity of her own, but fears letting down the ones she loves the most. In order to make the world more accessible and inclusive for deaf people, she knows she needs to continue her studies. But tempers flare when she decides to pursue secondary school far from her rural Latvian hometown. How will her family manage without her? How will she manage without her family? Inga Can Hear is a longitudinal coming-of-age story about finding yourself at the crossroads between two worlds and fearlessly choosing your own path. Nataleah Hunter-Young
