Description

Introduced by Greta Hodgkinson, Principal Dancer with The National Ballet of Canada, who is set to retire from the company in March after 30 years.

Step inside the wings of the stunning Palais Garnier and get ready to experience “one of the finest dance films ever made” (The New York Times). After exploring the American Ballet Theatre in Ballet, visionary director Frederick Wiseman turns his lens to the century-old Paris Opera Ballet, making us a fly-on-the-wall as the world-renowned dance institution prepare to mount seven star-studded ballets, including Rudolph Nureyev’s The Nutcracker and Pina Bausch’s Orphee and Eurydice. In a masterful observational style that has become synonymous with the director, Wiseman gives us rare behind-the-scenes access to the whole of the company, from its designers and musicians to its choreographers and, of course, its star dancers, as they journey from rehearsal hall to the stage.

Presented in partnership with The National Ballet of Canada .
