Leading up to the 2020 Canadian Screen Awards, discover a selection of Hot Docs favourites nominated for Best Feature Documentary.

The most difficult stories to tell are the ones we most need to hear. Colten Boushie, a young Cree man from Saskatchewan, died from a gunshot to the back of the head on Gerald Stanley's farm in 2016. The jury’s subsequent acquittal of Stanley unleashed a public outcry advocating for reforms in the Canadian legal system. With great sensitivity, filmmaker Tasha Hubbard follows the Boushie family in their pursuit of justice from national to international stages, bearing witness to the stark history of colonialism endured by First National Peoples. The opening night selection of Hot Docs 2019, this is an urgent and profound film that demands not only our attention, but our action.
