In both amateur and professional sports, being gay remains taboo. Breaking the code of silence that prevails on the field, on the ice and in the locker room, this new NFB doc focuses on athletes who’ve joined their voices in support of the LGBTQ cause, including ex-Montreal Impact midfielder David Testo, retired pro hockey goalie Brock McGillis, and Anastasia Bucsis, a former member of the Canadian Olympic long track speed skating team who became the only openly gay North American Olympian at the time. Directed by Paul Émile d’Entremont, the Standing on the Line takes a fresh and often moving look at brave athletes who’ve set out to overcome prejudice in the hopes of changing things for the athletes of tomorrow.

Followed by a panel featuring director Paul Émile d'Entremont and the film's two Toronto-based subjects, Anastasia Bucsis and Brock McGillis, moderated by Sportsnet 590 The FAN host Scott MacArthur.
