From homecoming parades and basketball games to lockdown drills and active shooter workshops, the landscape inside the American education system has drastically changed. Weaving together incredibly uncomfortable moments that have become the new normal, Bulletproof is a cinematic meditation on fear and violence that asks the questions: What does it mean to be safe in school? Safe from what, and from whom? Applying surreal and often haunting imagery, this is a provocative exploration of the school experience in middle America and the intense safety measures educators are resorting to. Going inside the classroom to hear the fears and anxieties of young people and parents in their own words, director Todd Chandler delivers timely commentary on a system perpetuating terror, the big business that profits from it and a generation of children that will be changed forever.
