Travel deep into the heart of Canada’s boreal forest and explore the chorus of life that call it home in this special member preview of the latest doc from acclaimed filmmaker Kevin McMahon (Waterlife). How do trees move and communicate and survive the destructive forces of fire, insects, and human encroachment? Shot from the perspective of plants and animals across a variety of national and provincial parks, including Banff and Jasper, Borealis is an immersive portrait of the cycles of nature—and wondrous ode to our country’s iconic wilderness.
On Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 pm (EST), join us on the NFB’s YouTube Channel for a live discussion with award-winning director Kevin McMahon, Dr Suzanne Simard (Dept. of Forest and Conservation Sciences, UBC) and Dr Mike Flannigan (Dept. of Renewable Resources, U of A). Together they will ask: How should we view Canada’s forests? Moderated by Aisha Jamal (filmmaker, Hot Docs programmer).
The film will be available for 48 hours from when you start the stream. Please note streaming is only possible from inside Canada. Need assistance? Visit our FAQ page or email us at streamingsupport@hotdocs.ca.
