Description

One of the classical world’s most venerated figures, Argentine-Israeli pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim has spent decades working to promote intercultural understanding through music. Out of his long-time friendship with Palestinian-American humanist Edward Said, Barenboim founded the groundbreaking West-Eastern-Divan orchestra. Now, 20 years later, Barenboim-Said Academy is born. Watch as the maestro inaugurates this innovative new school in Berlin, uniting young musicians from Israel and the Arab world under the shared mission of humanism, music and philosophy. Featuring insightful interviews with Frank Gehry and Miriam Said, Beyond the Music captures the next phase in the political and social engagement of a living musical legend.

Featuring an exclusive interview with Maestro Daniel Barenboim, hosted by Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts at the Royal Conservatory.
