Description

Winner of the RIDM 2019 Grand Prize for Best National Feature.

Quebec filmmaker Claude Demers was born under the name Paul Jarry and adopted as a baby in the 1960s. Now a father himself, with nearly half a dozen feature films to his name, Demers turns to his own creation story, retracing the footsteps of his elusive biological mother. Who was this independent and secretive woman—and why did she leave him? Skillfully blending archival footage with re-enactments, and fiction with documentary, A Woman, My Mother is a poetic and touching exploration of the meaning of family, memory and maternal love.

In French with English subtitles

This program is presented by SODEC, in collaboration with the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM).

The film will be available for 48 hours from when you start the stream. Please note streaming is only possible from inside Canada. Need assistance? Visit our FAQ page or email us at streamingsupport@hotdocs.ca.
