Description

An institution of London’s Soho, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club has played host to many of the greatest of the genre, including Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Featuring glorious live performances from the icons that have graced its stage, this richly absorbing film immerses you in the club’s storied 60-year history, while also shining a light on those who built it—especially its namesake founder. Ronnie was beloved by many, from the famous to the many hard-up musicians he helped. But the talented saxophonist and emcee also secretly battled with mental illness throughout his life, a battle he ultimately lost. His legacy lives on in a venue which remains firmly on the cutting edge of the global jazz scene.

The film will be available for 48 hours from when you start the stream. Please note streaming is only possible from inside Canada. Need assistance? Visit our FAQ page or email us at streamingsupport@hotdocs.ca.
