A couple from the Quillasinga people of La Cocha Lagoon in southwestern Colombia adopt a baby from the Afro-Colombian region of Tumaco on the Pacific coast. Now a teenager, Camilo has grown up as the only Black member of the Indigenous community. Having endured racism and othering that never allowed him to fully integrate into the community, he has manifested his pain into rebellion. At a loss on how to help him, his parents and the community call a meeting to navigate a future forward for the young man. As he and his father go into ceremony together, they find the spiritual tools to embark upon a path to find his birth mother. Together they search for the truth of his birth and piece together his familial story. With exquisite cinematography and a sensitive lens, the directors follow the path of father and son as they begin to reconnect Camilo to his roots and place of origin and build a bridge between his two very different worlds.
