Description

Artscapes: Creative minds, artistic pursuits and inventive filmmaking

Take a look behind the scenes of a production of Jean-Philippe Rameau's 1735 opera Les Indes Galantes, interpreted in the contemporary, diverse city of Paris. Gallant Indies lifts the curtain on everything from casting to rehearsals to showtime, as four corners of the city come together to collaborate on the legendary opera. Laugh and groove alongside director Clément Cogitore, choreographer Bintou Dembélé and 30 dancers as they approach this masterpiece and stage for the first time together, with fresh energy and new styles never seen before in the world of opera. Can they push Paris's traditional art scene beyond the expected and usher in the next generation of cross-cultural renditions of traditional theatre? Samah Ali
