Description

Across the nearly impassable terrain of the Iranian border, scores of men risk their lives daily. Carrying loads of up to 150 pounds on foot through extreme temperatures and under the looming threat of violence from border guards, Kurdish kulbars are a vulnerable group of labourers operating in these remote border regions. With high rates of unemployment and crushing levels of poverty, the role of kulbar is one of last resort. Shot over nine years, the late director Rahim Zabihi crafts a gripping yet sensitive exposé that allows an unforgettable community the platform to seize a rare opportunity to be seen and heard.
