Description

In the Second World War, Misha Defonseca was only seven years old when her parents were deported by Nazis. Desperate to find them and escape herself, she sets off into the forest on foot, and unbelievably joins a pack of wolves to survive. After eventually emigrating to Massachusetts, a local publisher convinces her to share her surreal story. The book, Misha: A Mémoire of the Holocaust Years, becomes an international bestseller, with Misha speaking to audiences, schools and journalists around the world. All of Hollywood comes bidding for the story rights, but relations between the two women sour. A multi-million-dollar lawsuit turns the nearly bankrupt publisher into a detective whose search for evidence reveals not only an unfathomable deception, but an even darker truth. Imaginative retellings and expert layering of secrets within secrets structure this riveting stranger-than-fiction tale. Myrocia Watamaniuk
