Description

A burlesque dancer in New York, struggling between motherhood and shining with her oyster act on stage, two Michelin-starred chefs in France, who try to overcome the ego of the chef, a young woman in Sweden making the radical decision to become an oyster diver, a jewellery-maker in Japan finding beauty in imperfection and a terminally ill English psychologist who hopes to finish his ultimate book about oysters: six very different people motivated by their affection for, and connection to, the oyster. This offbeat and philosophical ode to oysters looks at the lengths people will go to satisfy the desires that both drive their ambitions and feed their frustrations. In The Taste of Desire, director Willemiek Kluijfhout takes us on a stunning global cinematic voyage, diving into the sensual and deepening connection of the sea, oysters and the protagonists' quest for self-fulfillment. An exploration of this fascinating mollusc, and those it inspires, as you’ve never seen it before. Darlene Naponse
