On April 2nd, 2011, LCD Soundsystem bid farewell to thousands of fans in a final blowout show at Madison Square Garden. With only three full studio albums and a handful of Eps to its name, the New York indie-rock outfit’s swift rise and surprisingly quick exit from the music scene only added to their frenzied appeal. In conversation with pop culture writer Chuck Klosterman, the band’s reluctant frontman James Murphy opens up about the motivations for their retirement alongside intimate personal footage from before, during and after the massive concert. The result is a touching and joyous tribute to one of the most influential bands of its generation.
