Take a cinematic trip back to 1960s Paris in Ulrike Ottinger’s love letter to the city where she came of age. Blending the personal and the political, the German filmmaker turns her lens on the places and events that influenced her own artistic awakening—and forever transformed the city in the process—from watching New Wave films at the Cinémathèque Française to the radical protests of May 1968. Structured like a series of “calligrammes”, poetic segments illustrated through visual typography, Ottinger creates both a masterful autobiography, and a wondrous time capsule of a bygone time and place.
