Join Traditional Indigenous Knowledge Consultant Fred Martin for this free illustrated lecture exploring and celebrating Indigenous storytelling traditions. Examining the distinct worldviews and cultural heritages of First Nations, Métis and Inuit people, Fred—an Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) with ties to the M’Chigeeng First Nations of Manitoulin Island, Ontario and member of the Qalipu First Nations (Mi'kmaq) of the Port aux Port Peninsula, Newfoundland—will celebrate the wonderful stories of the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island from the pre-contact era to the present. Adapted from an inspiring talk he gave to Hot Docs staff this past winter, this will be a lively and engaging presentation for fans of our Curious Minds lectures and author talks—and anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of the moving and uplifting stories that form the cultural bedrock of this land.
