In this BAFTA Award–winning film, filmmaker Deeyah Khan examines the erosion of reproductive rights in Trump’s America, seeking out the stories of low-income women and women of colour on the frontlines. Filmed two years before Roe v. Wade was overturned, Khan’s darkly prescient doc shows abortion clinics under siege from fundamentalist Christian protesters and doctors facing threats of violence and murder from anti-abortion fanatics. She meets with a man convicted of bombing clinics and speaks with women who face one of the most difficult decisions of their lives in choosing to have an abortion. In his time in office, Donald Trump wooed evangelical Christian voters by enacting anti-abortion policies. Now, with the Supreme Court’s recent 6–3 decision, the right of women to choose has been decimated in large swaths of the United States—just as Khan’s film warns.

On Abortion Rights: In June 2022, the US Supreme Court voted to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, which for almost 50 years had protected the right to abortion in the United States. During this frightening and unprecedented time, Hot Docs is screening three documentaries that foreshadow the erosion of reproductive rights in the States and stand up for women's right to choose.

The film will be available for 48 hours from when you start the stream. Please note streaming is only possible from inside Canada. For additional assistance, visit our FAQ page or email us at streamingsupport@hotdocs.ca.
