Description

The first of American novelist Patricia Highsmith's works to be adapted to the big screen—by no less than the Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock—Strangers on a Train is a first-rate psychological thriller and a masterpiece of film noir. When two strangers—tennis star Guy Haines (Farley Granger), whose wife will not grant him a divorce, and wealthy but deranged Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker), who wants to be rid of his father—happen to meet on a train from Washington to New York, the conversation casually turns to a possibly perfect crime: what if each committed murder for the other? This sets in motion a dangerous series of events as hypotheticals turn into deadly reality.
