Four Jamaican bobsledders dream of competing in the Winter Olympics, despite never having seen snow. With the help of a disgraced former champion (John Candy) desperate to redeem himself, the Jamaican underdogs set out to become worthy of Olympic selection, and go all out for glory. If you grew up in the 90s, this sweet-natured, feel-good comedy made an indelible mark deep in your subconscious. It’s undeniably cheesy and certainly imperfect—but it’s also just as buoyant and wholesome as you remember. Its unexpected ending, which features real footage from the 1988 Olympic bobsled run that the film is inspired by, shows that genuine sportsmanship will always win the day—even in the lowest of moments.
