In each of us are numerous identities, constantly overlapping and impacting one another. They change how we see the world, and often, how the world sees us. But what if you don’t have a sense of identity? What if who you thought you were, was in fact a lie? What happens then? Like all things that affect our daily experiences, identity, or lack of identity can impact mental health in different ways.

Followed by a Q&A with Made of Millions Foundation board members Mary-Lyn Kieffer and Florence Narine, film director Shane Belcourt and musician/film subject Tom Wilson.

About the Film

Growing up in a blue-collar neighbourhood, Tom Wilson knew he was different. His dad George was a blind war veteran, and his mother Bunny a very private and protective housewife. Tom learned to express himself through music, successfully getting a record deal. But through all his achievements, his parents kept a secret from their son, one he would not uncover until they both died. After years of hard living, revelations about his family led him on a path to connect with his true identity.

The Made of Millions Foundation is an advocacy nonprofit on a mission to change how the world perceives mental health. They’re a team made up of clinicians and sufferers who use their personal experiences and storytelling skills to create free educational content for the mental health community.
