Description

Filmmaker Nhat Quang Nông constructs a poignant time capsule, weaving together five years of personal archives to examine the fragile bonds of a Vietnamese family. The sister’s unexpected pregnancy and neurodivergence drive the plot, yet the true heart of the story is a collective effort involving the mother to manage traditional expectations and deep-seated trauma. Baby Jackfruit Baby Guava is a meditative dialogue between generations, where the act of filming becomes a protective gesture and a search for reconciliation. This story moves beyond a domestic record to explore how new life forces a reckoning with the ghosts of a family’s past. The atmosphere is one of protective tenderness, capturing a home where vulnerability is met with resilience. This journey reveals that healing is found in radical acceptance of one another, showing how love expands to accommodate even the most unconventional realities. Family is not defined by perfection, but by the persistent choice to stay together. Gugi Gumilang
