This is a third party event organized by Sandbay Entertainment. The content of this screening/event is the sole responsibility of the organizer.

#ElderWisdom is an initiative dedicated to combatting ageism and celebrating the wisdom of older adults, built on the belief that the greatest untapped resource in Canada, if not the world, is the collective wisdom of our elders.

The Green Bench is the documentary born from that mission. It follows residents in long-term care and retirement communities as they share the stories, memories, and hard-won wisdom that too often go unheard, offering audiences a chance to see aging, and the people living it, in a new light.

This special screening is timed to honour both National Seniors Day (October 1) and Ageism Awareness Day (October 9).

6:00 PM: Doors Open

7:00 PM: Film Screening

8:30 PM: Q&A with director Sarah Fodey

The evening is for anyone who has sat with an older adult and walked away changed by what they heard: families, students, care professionals, and community members alike. It is an invitation to pause, to listen, and to reconsider what ageism looks like and why it matters.

Wisdom grows when it is shared, and this screening is one more place for that sharing to happen. Learn more about the film and the #ElderWisdom initiative, and find a Green Bench near you, at elderwisdom.ca.

The event organizers would like to thank director Sarah Fodey and the team at Sandbay Entertainment for bringing this story to life, and to the residents and team members at Schlegel Villages whose stories made this film worth telling.
