Description

The Berlin Philharmonic is an icon of modernity, the National Library of Russia a kingdom of thoughts, and Norway’s Halden Prison the world’s most humane penitentiary. These are three of the six vastly different structures explored in Cathedrals of Culture, a beautifully composed film that seeks to uncover the souls of buildings. Acclaimed directors Wim Wenders, Michael Glawogger, and Michael Madsen bring their signature visual styles to the project as they examine how each of these landmarks reflect our culture, in the first three of six featurettes. This stunning documentary kicks off the latest season of our Music on Film series and and celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Toronto’s own Cathedral of Culture, Koerner Hall.

Stick around for a special post-screening Q&A with Marianne McKenna, Founding Partner of KPMB Architects and Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts at The Royal Conservatory of Music.

Presented with The Royal Conservatory of Music.
