Set in mythical India, La Bayadère tells the fantastic tale of Nikiya, a temple dancer, and the warrior prince who loves her but marries another. Exquisite choreography, dramatic storytelling and Minkus’ timeless score collide in Natalia Makarova’s new production, culminating in the ‘Kingdom of the Shades,’ one of the greatest treasures in modern ballet.
